Joy KMT is a poet, healer, ritual artist and cultural commentator. She is a MacDowell Fellow and a 2016 Callaloo Fellow, as well as a soon to be 2017 VONA fellow. Her work is deeply influenced by afropessimism, afrofuturism, conjure, the woods of Allegheny County and the economy of mothering. She is published in multiple journals, anthologies and magazines, including Black Quantum Futurism Volume 1 and 2, Black Girl Dangerous, The Feminist Wire, Nepantla, Adrienne, Pluck! The Journal of Affrilachian Arts & Culture, Blackberry, a magazine, Backbone Press, Fledgling Rag, Sugared Water, and others.
