On Sunday at 2pm, come back for the follow-up panel "QT Community Futurisms: What's Next for Pittsburgh".

In our first year, we came together to #ShutItDown and brought international attention to Pride celebrations all over the World (& particularly in Pittsburgh) have been largely taken over and run like businesses with corporate support and a real lack of intentional leadership. In just over three weeks to plan, we took to the streets to demand accountability from The Delta Foundation who boasted an over $1,000,000 annual budget, while providing little to no support to local organizations and lacked (and still lacks) financial transparency. We had a water balloon fight with our children in the park. We led a community town hall discussion about the disproportionate impact of systemic and structural violence on queer and trans folks in Pittsburgh. We created spaces to listen and take action. We celebrated in a waterfront ballroom at The Renaissance Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. We showered each other with love and joy and healed together on the riverfront.

In our second year, we hosted a week-long celebration with our families. We continued the conversations about community violence. We shared the ways that oppression has impacted our lives. We designed radical spaces of affirmation. We cooked out in the woods. We played soccer and jumped off cliffs to save soccer balls. We survived the cliffs. We had another water balloon fight with our children in the park. We designed spaces for all of us to exist. We turned up and reclaimed space at The ACE Hotel in East Liberty. We created spaces of holistic healing. We laughed and smiled. We took joyrides through the hood and shared intimacy. We committed to protecting our children and each other. We promised to make space for our whole Selves.

Now, in our third year, we are honored to have the support of The Pittsburgh Foundation + The August Wilson Center to celebrate 3 years of resistance, fellowship, and turn-ups with our final Roots Pride! We hope to see everybody that worked so hard to make Roots Pride a reality and all those who will carry on the legacy of standing up for queer and trans folks in Pittsburgh. We envisioned Roots Pride as a catalyst for transformation. We are so proud to see the power of intention. Look around at all we have manifested together!
