Keynote: Building Future Cities w Ingrid LaFleur, Marita Garrett, Celeste Smith

  • THEATER - August Wilson Center (map)

Mayoral candidates Ingrid LaFleur (Detroit), Marita Garrett (Wilkinsburg), 1Hood CEO Celeste Smith, and filmmaker Alisha B. Wormsley lead an afrofuturist discussion on the roles an artist/educator, a curator turned politician, and a politician have in the building of our future cities.

These women will discuss topics spanning the aesthetics of cities, access to education, transportation, and the water crisis augmented by clips from several films and video pieces that support these themes featuring shorts from Pittsburgh artists, dystopic blockbusters, and viral YouTube videos. Co-curated by Afronaut(a) and Iyapo Repository.
